We Want to Listen to You:
Arizona Insiders Policy Preferences

This section takes a look at the major behind-the-scenes people and organizations who drive many of the decisions made by the State of Arizona.

Arizona policy has a reputation of being heavily influenced by a select group of political lobbyists. In fact, after a recent Senate vote, State Senator Ron Gould (R) announced on the Senate floor, "It actually shows who runs the place down here. I don’t know if it is the legislature. I think it is the contract lobbyists."

In this section, we provide the opportunity thirteen different leaders of major lobbying firms to express their policy preferences. As these lobbyists represent a variety of clients, Arizona wants to know how they are representing their clients.

We Want to Listen to You:
Arizona’s United States Senators

Arizonans look to our national representatives as statesmen who can provide us with guidance on the best public policy for the state.

Already, Senators McCain and Kyl have voiced opposition for the 18% sales tax increase and have also voiced their opposition to the Tohono O’odham project to construct a casino in Glendale.

We provide Senators McCain and Kyl the opportunity to express their policy preferences for all of the fiscal policy choices available to the state.

Arizona’s United States Representatives

Arizonans want their U.S. Representatives to apply their experience to help us better understand our policy choices we are facing together as a state.

We Want to Listen to You:
Arizona Political Parties

Arizona’s political parties still play a significant role in developing political platforms and shaping public opinion.

With over 30% of Arizonans registered as independents and the Green Party being formally recognized as a political party, it is clear Arizonans are demanding better leadership from the political parties.

We provide the political parties the opportunity to express their policy preferences, so that Arizonans can evaluate their solutions in Arizona’s political marketplace of ideas.

We Want to Listen to You:
Arizona Leading Columnists

The financial challenges facing the state of Arizona are extremely complex and, equally important, extremely political.

We look to leading columnists to provide their independent assessment of policy issues to help us, as voters and as citizens, make more informed decisions.
